Year 2011
On this year 2011, I would like to pay closer attention to "The Basics of Drumming".
Once I heard a pro football player said:"In order to become a Pro, first you have to master the basics of the game". Wow, that's very interesting, right!
I can relate to that. Trying to play Dave Weckl's drum parts from "Magic Island" (check the video here), but without being able to play a basic rock beat counting it loud.
Today, is the same thing with the new generation of drumming students. They want to play drums because of the impact that a song from Nickelback or Slipknot or any other artist made in their lives. But they don't want to learn how to hold the stick properly, or to count out load or to learn the basic rudiments or to learn to read music.
Well, guess what...We are going to go back to "THE BASICS OF DRUMMING".
Hope we enjoy the ride together. I know I will...
