About Mel Corcino

Mel Corcino was born in Puerto Rico and he grew up in the great Town of Juncos.

 

Professionally, Mel has a degree in Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico, Humacao. He was student of the percussion department in the "Escuela Libre de Musica" (Caguas, Puerto Rico) under the supervision of well-known percussionist Jose "Pepe" Torres. 

 

Also, Mel had taken lessons with Global Ambassador Dom Famularo and Nate Dobas. Currently, he is self-studying using education materials from Tommy Igoe, Steve Smith, Dom Famularo, Dave Weckl, John Riley and Pat Petrillo. 

 

Mel had the opportunity to play in great bands growing up back in Puerto Rico. These bands were Orbe Azul (Latin Pop Rock; 1996-1998), Sweet Spirit (Christian R&B), Nueva Identidad (Christian Pop Rock), Orlando Pabellon Jazz Quintet (Latin Jazz).


Mel relocated with his family to CT, USA on March 2004. Currently, he resides in the Town of Salem.
